In Memory of My Baby, Felix...
by Andrea Nicole Bagley (site's owner)
First of all, this site was dedicated to him before we knew he had a terminal illness. In the Fall of 1999, I learned from his Vet that he had a terminal illness, Kidney Failure. I did everything I could to help him until it was time to put him back in the Lord's hands. I would rather tell you about Felix and who he really was, rather than how sad it was to help go comfortably.
One late Spring day in 1993, my best friend and I set out to look for a kitty. I remember that it was a Monday, because we tried to go to the Humane Society to get a kitty who needed saving, but the Humane Society was closed on Mondays. I believe that Felix and I were totally meant to be together, that's why all of these events took place.
My best friend and I remembered where a Pet Shop was, so there we headed. The little kittens were not caged, they were wherever they wanted to be. I picked one up to show my friend and she said emphatically, "No, you should get this one!". We called him "Mr. Back-up", because anytime you held him, he would always back-up, it was cute though.
I lived with my boyfriend (who would become my husband one day). His name was Chris and he said that he would like to have a child one day. So, since I was NOT ready to have children, we had picked out the kitten and presented him to Chris. I told Chris, since I'm not ready for children, this is our baby and his name is "Christian."
We took him home, he smelled around for about 5 minutes and decided that he would live there, he seemed quite content! Chris watched him for a bit and said, "He just isn't a Christian, he's a Felix!". Not only did I agree with him, but I said, "Perfect!".
I just loved Felix from the very day I met him. There was something about him that I can't quite explain, but I got him for Chris yet Felix and I would bond for the rest of his wonderful life!
Unfortunately, Chris and I divorced and we had to split up, not only our stuff but the kitties too (we had acquired more by that time). At that moment I told Felix, "I will never ever leave you". From his kitten-hood up until I had to give him back, I had always stuck by what I had told him! He was my baby and would never abandon him!
What I remember most about him was that he had such silly quirks, like his having to eat one piece of food at a time with his mouth open so it would sound real loud (it was cute). Before I had any other cats staying with me he ALWAYS slept with me and if I got up to do anything, he was sure to follow, especially when I'd be on the "throne" he'd stand on the counter and just love all over my face!
The main quirk of Felix's is REALLY crazy, since his tiny kittenhood to the day before he passed on, his VERY favorite toy in the whole world, believe it or not, was an unwrapped tampon! Perhaps it resembled a mouse. He could hear one being opened a mile away!
I still talk to him on a daily basis, I believe he can hear me, and I certainly believe that he is not gone! He is gone from the earth, for I buried his "earth body" along with his tag and his very last tampon, but I believe he lives in a very special place with lots of light, energy, and most of all love! Felix and I are still connected by the heart. We are now and we always shall be...
Rainbow Bridge
Just this side of heaven is a place called RainbowBridge. When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable. All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.
They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent; His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.
You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.
Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

Nuci doing her favorite thing. Rolling on the warm driveway cement. | NUCI My name is Nicole, and this is my site. My dad (who actually writes this web site) got me a kitty when I asked him for one. It was gray and just learning to scoot around. I had a cousin who was 2 years old. She would see the dog Snoopy on the TV set and point, get excited, and yell "Nuci Nuci" which was Snoopy out of the lips of a 2-year-old. I liked the name Nuci, and thus "Nuci" was named. My dad and I will tell you short tales of Nuci and how she lived a good 15-year life, full of humor, giving birth, adopting others, pointed at ducks like a hunting dog, and had so many cute idiosyncrasies, that dad and I miss her very very much, and want to share with you tales of her life. |
Nuci To The Rescue
by Nicole's dad
Years ago, right after getting banged up in the plane crash that cost me my left eye, I was home, trying to recuperate. Nicole was living with me to look after me. She had a job at Cypress Gardens as one of the Southern Belles, the girls that walk around the gardens in those Southern hoop skirts. Nicole was at work, and I was home alone, with Nuci. My computer was in the back bedroom, at the other end of the apartment we were living in. I decided to prepare some pasta noodles, so I filled a pot full of water, and turned the heat on high, to get it boiling. Well, a watched pot never boils, so I got tired of waiting for the burner to heat up, and went to turn on my computer, which began making funny noises as it cranked.I wondered what was causing this, and sat down to see what the problem was. I got engrossed in the computer, and forgot the boiling pot of water.
Some time later, Nuci came to where I was and stopped at the door.I looked over at her. She was acting strange. She mewed in a strange manner. Something was wrong in her voice. It was saying to me, "Something's not right."
Then, it hit me. I screamed, "Oh my God!" and ran frantically to the kitchen. The whole pot of water had evaporated, and now the burner was so red hot that the pot was almost stuck to the metal burners. I pried it off and turned off the burner.Who's to say what would have happened had Nuci not warned me?What if I had left a wash rag too close to the burner, and it caught fire, and rose to set fire to the cabinets above the stove?Anything could have happened. But, Nuci was intelligent enough to realize something was amiss, and came to warn me.Literally, Nuci saved my life.
